Award in the category Industry/Skilled Trades.

The design award for the turnkey line was awarded in the category Industry/Skilled Trades.

In May 2017 at the Interpack in Düsseldorf, trade visitors were granted a first insight into the new design philosophy of Harro Höfliger. The exhibited turnkey production line for web processing and packaging, consisting of the continuous patch making machine (PMK) and a connected cartoning machine (MKC), is the first to have the design elements that will be incorporated into Harro Höfliger's machines in the future. The award-winning design language was developed by the designers Thomas Starczewski and Thomas Koch of the agency designship in Ulm.

"Linear machine front panels and generous folding and sliding doors provide improved access to the operator's production and control areas, ensuring improved service at the individual units," said Thomas Starczewski, Managing Director of designship. In addition, scratch-resistant and durable surfaces, such as stainless steel and real glass, offer improved cleaning properties and emphasize the high quality standards of machines from Harro Höfliger. The project leading designer Thomas Koch adds: "Besides the characteristic machine design prominent light strips and specially developed system status lights communicate with the operators.” The HMI (Human Machine Interface) which can be moved along the entire machine length, always ensure safe and comfortable control of the system via touchscreen.

The new, innovative design clearly distinguishes Harro Höfliger's machines also visually from other manufacturers' products and strengthens the brand image as a supplier of innovative production solutions. Markus Höfliger is pleased with the award: "A great award and an independent confirmation that we are on the right track. Many thanks to everyone involved and the entire team Harro for this great achievement."

Since 1954, the iF Industrie Forum Design e. V. has been awarding the prize for product design achievements and is one of the most important design prizes in the world. An iF Gold Award will only be given to outstanding submissions. In 2018, 75 of the approximately 6,400 submissions received the "Gold" rating.
