Innovation Expo 2019 at Harro Höfliger

Innovation Expo provided participants from all over the world with an opportunity to find out the latest news about the company as well as current developments and trends in the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry. In keeping with the event theme "Lighting up your way", the focus was on the path to commercial manufacturing – from laboratory to production. The company presented numerous new technologies and hosted expert presentations. Visitors were also introduced to the new cleanrooms and the expanded service portfolio, which will provide customers with support even earlier in the product development process.

Expert presentations on current trend topics

The event focused on trend topics in the industry. The guest speakers included 19 international experts from the business and scientific communities, who reported about current developments in their respective fields of inhalation, drug delivery systems, from lab to production, digital expertise, medical cannabis and personalized medicine. Between the presentations there was plenty of time for questions, which gave rise to many interesting discussions. For each of the topics covered there was also a Meet the Experts debate, in which participants had another opportunity to engage with the speakers in person.

Theory meets practice

Visitors were also able to visit the cleanroom and laboratory area, which was recently extended to over 500 square meters. Accompanying the presentations was a series of Insights workshops, in which technological highlights were presented. While various chemical and physical product analysis methods were presented in the state-of-the-art laboratory, the effects of digitalization on machine operation were demonstrated in one of the cleanrooms. Visitors also learned how Augmented Service provides machine operators with support from experienced specialists, even across contents. In keeping with the central theme of the event – Lighting up your way – the topic of safety and reliability in the development process was also covered. Harro Höfliger presented a number of manual and semiautomatic systems – including systems for the dosing of powders and for the assembly of medical devices – for demonstrating the feasibility of projects. Another highlight were the machines for the manufacture of surgical suture material. The entire development process – from manual stations to machines for high-performance production – was presented.

Relaxed atmosphere

The focal point of the event was the Innovation Expo Area. In an area normally used for the assembly of systems and platforms, visitors gathered between the various items on the agenda to exchange views and make new contacts. This was also the starting point for the company tours, which gave guests the opportunity to see behind the scenes in Allmersbach. Last but not least, the Innovation Expo Area was the venue chosen to kick off the evening event held on the opening day, at which guests enjoyed live music before sitting down to dinner together.

One week – three events

Harro Höfliger's partners in the Excellence United strategic alliance – Uhlmann and Bausch+Ströbel – also hosted their own on-site events to coincide with Innovation Expo. Large numbers of visitors used the shuttle service to visit each of the events, where they got to see the latest innovations from the manufacturers for special machines first-hand.
