Small Scale: The small batch machine for micro-dosing powder into inhalation blisters (intermittent)


The SSP2 shapes, fills and seals blister strips and allows an introduction into fully-automatic production. Filling can be done alternately either via roller dosage to partially fill cavities or via diaphragm dosing for complete filling. The blister packaging can be customized as wound double strips or sheared single strips, mounted by down-stream machines and then finally packaged.

SSP2 is a DPI machine designed to manufacture dry powder blisters in small batch standard.

Machine features

Tiny cavities are created in the blister film through thermal forming or cold forming, which are then filled with active inhaler ingredient in powder form.

Forming blisters

Minimum quantities of active-ingredient powder are dosed into blister cavities for dry powder inhalers. Plastic forming of these tiny cavities is achieved through thermal forming (PE film) or cold forming (aluminum film).

Micro-dosing is applied to fill blister cavities with active ingredients.

Filling blisters

The powder filling module that is completely integrated into the machine can be optionally equipped with a drum filler or with a diaphragm filler. For roller dosing, the cavities are partially filled, for diaphragm dosing, the blister cups are filled up to 100%.

Sealed blister strips are closed in the sealing process.

Closing blisters

Filled blisters are closed with covering or forming film. The sealing tools used can be configured by adjusting pressure, temperature and time separately for each material.

Barrier technology protects the product from contamination and the user from coming into contact with active ingredients.
